About Mind and Heart Psychology

Mind & Heart Psychology was founded to bridge the gap between faith and evidence-based wellbeing. Our approach integrates psychological science with Islamic principles, creating a compassionate, reflective, and culturally aware space for healing and growth. This space is for the Mindful Muslim — those seeking to grow, reflect, and improve their emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

Whether you are exploring for personal support or simply want to better understand yourself and others, Mind & Heart Psychology offers tools and reflections to nurture both the mind and heart. We believe that tending to both allows for deeper understanding, emotional balance, and spiritual connection.

Through one-to-one psychological support, reflective workshops, and community events, we aim to create opportunities for growth, introspection, and healing.

Meet our Founder

Nishat Ahmed

Mind & Heart Psychology was founded by Nishat Ahmed, a Senior Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and EMDR Therapist, currently specialising in Neuropsychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital, with a particular focus on Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and dissociative symptoms.

In her private practice, Nishat offers therapy for a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety disorders, depression, and trauma, drawing on evidence-based approaches and integrative therapeutic methods.

Nishat is also involved in teaching CBT, providing clinical supervision, facilitating reflective practice groups, and delivering corporate wellbeing events and workshops — bringing psychological insight into both clinical and community spaces.

Her work is deeply grounded in values drawn from the Qur’an and Sunnah, through which she continually observes the connection between Islamic guidance and Psychological principles.

Her vision for Mind & Heart Psychology is to benefit the Ummah and wider community by helping individuals better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours — and to cultivate resilience, balance, and spiritual wellbeing.

Nishat is professionally accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
